Therapeutic riding helps riders develop patterns of movement, balance, speech and coordination. Another important benefit is the positive emotional connection between horse and rider.  Horses have an intuitive sense of the rider’s needs.  They pick up on the challenges of the riders and help them relax and enjoy this special relationship of unconditional love.

Riding lessons at Swan View are supported with music, and include horse mounted warm up exercises, obstacle courses, equestrian games reinforcing educational principles, drill patterns, and trail riding.  Horses provide a unique neuromuscular stimulation which increase strength, agility, mobility, coordination, and concentration of the rider.

Our Therapeutic horses have helped riders with special needs including: ADD, ADHD, Angelman Syndrome, Asperger’s Syndrome, Autism,  Traumatic Brain Injury, Cerebral Palsy, Depression, Down Syndrome, Emotional Disorders, Emphysema, Hearing Impairments, Learning Disabilities, Muscular Dystrophy, Mental Retardation, Multiple Sclerosis, Spinal Cord Injury, Polio, Stroke, Transverse Myelitis, and Visual Impairments.
